Official synopsis
É verão e o pequeno Masao não tem com quem brincar. O cinquentão Kikujiro jamais seria a companhia ideal para um garoto de nove anos de idade: é impaciente, arrogante e gosta de mandar nos outros. Mas os dois saem em busca da mãe que Masao nunca conheceu, em uma viagem que mostrará que a realidade não é nada sem a magia.
